Grey clouds and lack of sunshine in Sydney, which is currently experiencing one of its coldest summers yet, make me miss the sticky warmth of Singapore’s tropical weather. That leads to missing the family even more—I feel as if I haven’t properly caught up with everyone, being caught up in my duties as Matthew’s tour guide during the trip. The last time I felt this way was two years ago, when I spent too much time reminiscing in a tiny room at the back of the Indonesian family’s house during my initial months in Sydney. Something feels incomplete, I hadn’t been as relieved to go as the last time. Perhaps it’s also because I don’t have a return ticket to Singapore this time, having bought only a one-way so as to scout better airfare deals this year. I feel cold, terribly nostalgic and want to sit in my sister’s room this very moment and talk to her about everything and nothing.
To cheer things up here are some colourful photos from the family’s Chinese New Year celebrations on Day 1:

Hope the grey clouds clear soon!

At first glance, I thought that mouse was real! Very cute.
